Questions &Answers
What do you need to know about Arestin® Treatments?
What is ARESTIN®?
ARESTIN® is an antibiotic keeps a high-level of antibiotic right at the site of the gum disease without exposing the rest of the body to antibiotics, directly fighting infection for 14 days.
What is periodontal disease?
Periodontal disease is a silent infection of the supporting structures (your gum and bones) that leads to permanent bone loss around your teeth, loss of gum support, spacing, recession, movement of the teeth, and chronic bad breath.
How does it work?
ARESTIN® is placed directly in the infected areas in your gums. It is applied right after scaling and root planing, a procedure that helps clear out stubborn plaque and bacteria below your gum line.
Why would I need it?
Brushing and flossing can’t reach every part of your mouth: that’s why gum disease is so common! ARESTIN® can help fight infection and inflammation for 30 days 1 and is more effecting than scaling and root planing alone.

Avoid touching the treated areas and follow instructions on when you can begin your normal brushing and flossing routines! We also recommend avoiding chewy or sticky foods.
